Sponsored Events
These are the events closest to our hearts because we offer support in terms of sponsorship. This entails a mixture of providing race numbers and prizes, offering a stall on race day and promoting the events both in-store and online through pages like this and our email newsletter. We have carefully selected the events that we support to ensure we can offer our support to a wide cross section of runners. This is intended to include those very new to the sport, casual weekend runners and those that are members of a running club.

Name:
Leatherhead Fire Station Charity 10k
When:
NovemberWhere:
Leatherhead Fire Station
Online entry now available by clicking here.
This event starts and finishes at the Fire Station and the route takes in the beatiful surrounding countryside before coming back into town. Although somewhat undulating in nature (read hilly) the hills do come to an end after 4k leaving a fast finish and PB potential.
The organisation of the event laid on by Terry and his crew at the station is second to none. With chip timing as well as a cracking BBQ and award winning cake stand, there are lots of other reasons to enter the Leatherhead 10k too.
Lanson Running have been supporting this event since 2007 and are proud to do so. We take a large team to race although the Clapham Chasers seem to take their entire club! It is popular with running clubs and casual runners alike and everyone enjoys participating.
Name:
Harry Hawkes Eight
When:
September
Where:
Thames Ditton (nr Kingston)
This is a great friendly race that we love being involved with. It starts and finishes in the lovely local village of Thames Ditton and then loops around the river Thames and takes in Kingston town centre. The run is a mixture of flat surfaces but is very flat so it makes for a fast race and some great times.
Attracting the likes of local former international runner Sonia O'Sullivan as well as a great mix of everyone else from those who want to race and compete to those just happy to get round unscathed. The event takes advantage of the generous nature of the participants and their supporters and has raised a magnificent £60k for local charities over the last few years.

Name: Thames Turbo Triathlon Club Race Series
When: Every Bank Holiday Monday
Where: Hampton Open Air Pool

A hugely popular sprint triathlon event laid on by the popular and successful local triathlon club Thames Turbo. The club have an association with Hampton Pool which makes this an easy introduction to the event for anyone not wanting to brave an open water swim nor hire a wetsuit. The cycle leg takes in the flat roads alongside the Thames and the run is a loop through the beautiful Bushy Park.
Attracting a mix of elite athletes and total beginners, the organisers and all club members are welcoming of everyone. It is the perfect event to sample a triathlon, to benchmark your standard at the front of the field, or just to come down and compete for your club. Bring your mountain bike, your BMX or custom made Seven cycle. Swim in a tri-suit, your Speedos or your lycra, but don't forget your running shoes.
These events run every Bank Holiday Monday at the slightly unsocialable hour of 7am. They are a lot cheaper than most triathlon events and are cheaper still for BTA members. The sponsors are also very generous and you can take away a good few sample products and win prizes for Lanson Running and Sigma Sport.
